Developed in partnership between Historic Joy Kogawa House Society and Vancouver Poetry House, Poetry Jam returns to Word Vancouver. Participants interested in poetry, performance, or practicing spoken word should come to this free session. Lindi Nolte, a beloved Vancouver based poet, teacher, spoken word artist, will offer some writing prompts to engage folks interested in writing, and then will lead the group through a brief open mic, while offering feedback and facilitating discussion. Folks will learn some skills and exercises, as well as be introduced to spoken word resources available across Metro Vancouver. This event is open to all attendees at any level of writing experience, all participation in any aspect of the workshop is optional

Lindi Nolte
Lindi Nolte is a South African-Canadian spoken word poet, storyteller, Tedx speaker, educator, and mother. Lindi’s journey into poetry started in 2015 at Cafe Deux Soleil’s Poetry Slam where she quickly journeyed her way to one of Vancouver’s favourite poets. In 2018, she was crowned Grand Slam Champion. As a poet, Lindi is deeply motivated by the connection we forge with ourselves and each other as we navigate the challenges and joys of the human experience. She lives in Vancouver and facilitates creative writing and spoken word workshops. Lindi’s debut poetry collection “Barefoot and Awestruck” explores the complexity of relationships, the healing power of nature, love and self-discovery.
