This Word Vancouver visit encourages empathy, emotional literacy, and creative self-expression. Students will reflect on how kindness, community, and small brave steps can help us support ourselves and one another.

Amanda White
Amanda White is a multi-disciplinary artist who writes, teaches, and makes art about the environment, sustainability, and climate. She is a member of the Hungry Stories Team. Originally from Toronto, she now lives in Vancouver with her family, where she is an assistant professor at Emily Carr University of Art and Design.
Mahtab Narsimhan
Name
Mahtab Narsimhan is an award-winning author of twenty-five critically acclaimed books in the fantasy, horror, mystery, and contemporary genres, and is published internationally. Mahtab writes for all ages, from picture books to young adult novels. Many have been shortlisted for the Silver Birch, Red Maple, SYRCA, MYRCA, Best Books for Teen and YA, and the CLA Book of the Year, Children’s Awards. Her debut novel, The Third Eye, won the Silver Birch Fiction Award in 2009. Two recent books are recipients of the Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Award. She is committed to representation and inclusivity in her work.
